“I am the God of the living not the dead.” Jesus spoke these words when the religious leaders try to trap him through human logic. They were trying to speak about something they thought they knew but in reality their thinking was completely off. Jesus responded to them by basically saying you are trying to reason heavenly things with an earthly mindset. I often wonder how often I miss God or misinterpret what He is doing or saying because I use human reasoning instead of having a heart that is submissive to the Spirit of God. In essence, I find myself thinking about the things of God, trusting in God, and trying to conceptualize the things of God like someone who is spiritually dead; thus "holding to the form of godliness but denying its power" (ref. 2 Timothy 3:5). This is probably my greatest fear, becoming religious and missing God. Please, join me this week as we discuss the importance how to know if we are worshiping and trusting in the God of the living and not the dead. Family, I hope to see you this Sunday. Love you all.
