Shining for Christ this Christmas

Tis the season to celebrate Christ and to let our witness shine brighter than all of the of the Christmas lights in our community and to continue to look how we can shine Christ around the world.  As many of you know we focus on “Lottie Moon” mission support during the month of December. I realize that some of you may be new to Southside Baptist Church and are not sure what Lottie Moon is all about.

Starting in 1888, the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering was established to empower the international missions efforts for Southern Baptists. After more than a century, the annual offering continues its steady growth. The National Goal this year is $160 Million. Your giving enables missionaries to be sent to make disciples and multiply churches among unreached peoples and places for the glory of God. Can you think of a better way to celebrate Christ’s birth than to focus on sending and going for the sake of proclaiming His name and His salvation purpose throughout our world?

This Sunday we will have one of our own church family members who has been serving as a missionary in Thailand share with us about her salvation experience, her call to mission and the wonderful work that she has had the privilege of being a part of as she serves the precious people of Thailand. She will also being sharing about how the Lottie Moon offering directly affects the ministry there. I had the great privilege of spending time with Kelli Johnson and hearing her share about many of the wonderful things that she has experienced in her walk with Christ and her service on the mission field. I am pretty confident that if you are here on Sunday you will leave encouraged and inspired to shine brighter this Christmas for our Lord. Hope to see you all this Sunday as we continue to celebrate Christ.

Love you all,

Pastor Michael
