Messages

The Sunday morning church service is when the whole church gathers together to worship God by singing to Him, giving of the time, money, and skill He has graced us with, and receiving a message delivered by a man who senses God's call to preach and teach the message of the Bible.

We record the audio of the sermons during each service and post it over on SoundCloud. This web page provides links to the sermon audio as well as to correlating materials you can use for further research and for group study in your small group.

It Can't Be That Simple

Sunday, July 17, 2016

How is it that the Gospel message can seem so simple but living the Christian life can seem so complicated?  This Sunday we will revisit Jesus' late night encounter with Nicodemus and let Him explain it all to us.

We Must Be Intentional

But He needed to go through Samaria (John 4:4)

As your pastor it is my responsibility to shepherd us into true discipleship. True discipleship always intentionally seeks to bring light into dark situations.

Love sinners; hate sin and mourn with those who mourn. It's God’s way (part 2)

Sunday, July 3, 2016

I was and still am saddened by the tragedy in Orlando--the tragic loss of so many lives in the mass shooting at a gay nightclub. As a pastor who is convinced that the Bible forbids same-sex activity,  I am also greatly grieved by the success of LGBT advocates in promoting their unbiblical agenda in our culture. But as a Christian who is convinced that God loves us all, no matter our sexual orientation or lifestyle, I am also saddened by the response of some Christians to the Orlando tragedy.

Love, hate, and mourning God's way

Sunday, June 26, 2016

It's been said, "Love the sinner, hate the sin." And Scripture says, "Mourn with those who mourn." That's God’s way. And these days our convictions are really being put to the test.

On one hand, I'm convinced that the Bible forbids same-sex activity. I am saddened by the success of LGBT advocates in promoting their unbiblical agenda.

Created For Worship

Sunday, June 19, 2016

There's one purpose for born-again believers: to worship God by walking in faith in Him through thick and thin. In this week's message, we discover what it means to worship, and highlight three ways our worship can be derailed.

[NOTE: We apologize that, due to technical difficulties, the audio for this week's message is very poor.]

So... is that your final answer?

What are your favorite game shows?  Personally I enjoy the quiz shows that test your knowledge: Jeopardy, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader, Who Wants To Be a Millionaire. It's often about having clever answers to obscure questions.

How's Your Heart?

Sunday, June 5, 2016

Religion or relationship with God--what's the difference? In this week's message, Southside elder Rip Patton shares Jesus's teaching that it's a matter of the heart. With a humble heart, we hear and embrace Jesus's words "You've heard it said... but I say to you", and we allow Jesus to fill in the gaps in the Law, rather than rules thought up by men.

The Gospel That Dispels Doubt

Sunday, May 29, 2016

Jesus promised, "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." And yet, amazingly, we're surrounded by friends and family who are weighed down with doubt about God's love, doubt about whether they'll spend eternity in heaven or in hell or just become worm food. They are aching to know the truth and be set free. In this week's message, it's back to basics as Andy Sharples shares how his own doubts were replaced with confidence through the good news of Jesus Christ.

The Battle is Spiritual and Purposeful

Sunday, May 22, 2016

There are numerous passages in the epistles illustrating that demonic spirits can have extensive influence on believers. Paul warns Timothy "the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared." So in essence we are being told to be careful to what teachings and influences we expose ourselves to. We need to all ask ourselves who is behind these teachings or these realms of influence.

A Temple of God, but a Dwelling for Demons?

Sunday, May 15, 2016

What does the title of this message even mean? Just the thought of it makes most Christians uncomfortable.

Is it really possible for the temple of God to be a dwelling for demons?  If so, is this something that I need to be concerned about, or is this something that is only for people who have dabbled in witchcraft? After all, "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."
