Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” --Matthew 19:14
As a parent of a preschooler, you have been entrusted with one of the most amazing gifts God gives: a precious little person. What a wonderful time of your life you are in! And we see our role as your partners. We provide a safe, clean, positive environment and trained caregivers who create a loving, meaningful and fun atmosphere to build faith foundations for children from birth to kindergarten.
Sunday School and Worship Care
Preschool Sunday School is 8:45-9:45 in the preschool wing. (On your first day someone from the welcome team, standing at any entrance to the building, will show you where to go.) When parents go to the worship service, you have the option of letting your preschool (ages birth to 4) go to worship care. The tiny ones stay where they are. The older preschoolers go to Little Church in the ARK room for an age-appropriate time of worship with music, games, and a creative Bible lesson.
Wednesday Evening Childcare
We provide childcare for preschoolers when their parents are involved in Wednesday evening activities and ministries. During these times, the children learn a Bible story, participate in a craft, play games, and eat a snack.
Age Appropriate Lessons
Childcare at Southside is more than babysitting. We use toys, snacks, crafts, and caring interaction to help teach little ones the wonderful stories of Jesus's life and teachings in an age-appropriate way. Rarely will a week go by without your preschooler bringing home a little something they made in class that week.
You sign your preschooler in at the beginning of class and receive a sticker with a number on it. If your child needs your attention during the worship service, we will show their number on a little black screen at the front of the sanctuary on the left side as you're facing the stage. And only you are allowed to pick up your child after the service.
The classrooms and toys are disinfected each week before the service. Teachers and volunteers make sure the little ones wash their hands and are careful to keep the rooms clean and safe.
All of our ministry volunteers have been through a complete background check.
A variety of activities are offered during the year for preschooler families, including:
- Mom and Me Gym Days
- Holiday Activities: Easter Egg Hunts, Build Gingerbread Houses, Valentines Party, etc.
- Child Dedication Service
